Type of vinyl flooring

First of all, fix your decision whether to buy vinyl sheets or vinyl tiles. You need to consider your lifestyle, how you will use your floor, what your budget is and how you want your new floor to look. Check out your options.

Vinyl Sheet

If you are looking for a patterned design then this is a good option. It typically comes in rolls that are 6 or 12 feet wide that are rolled flat and cut to the shape of your room. Except for small corners where two sheets connect, the sheets present a continuous pattern.

Inlaid: This style is more expensive and heavier than the printed option. Since the pattern and colour extend through the entire sheet, this flooring will mask your damage. It shows only less damage if it’s scratched.

Printed: In this style a pattern is printed onto a backing material, and then coated with layers of clear urethane or vinyl to protect your floor from wear and tear. This defensive layer is called a wear layer and comes in a few different levels.

Vinyl Tile

If you are looking to create a check-board like pattern or similar to that, you can opt this. It comes in 12-inch square that contains adhesive on the back.

Composition: It is made up of many different materials and fillers all mixed in a large vat with the final colour. This also contains a wear layer, but it has some additional colour and texture. An easy way to find the difference between composition and solid tile is by checking the back of your tiles. If the pattern is different on each side, then it is referred as composition tile.

Solid: Solid tile is prone to less porous and it has a photographic-film surface, so it can match the colours and patterns of stone or wood.
